Huawei Nova Review

Huawei, once just another Chinese tech manufacturer, has swiftly risen to become one of the most capable mid-range smartphone makers in the industry. In fact, the company is so good that Google tapped it to manufacture the last of its first-party Nexus devices, the Nexus 6P.

Huawei has now returned to releasing phones under its own colours, starting with the Huawei Nova and Huawei Nova Plus. Situated comfortably in the company's wheelhouse, the Nova is an attractive mid-range device, with an affordable price tag that belies some rather impressive performance.

Design, display and casing
If the Nova seems familiar, it's because its chassis basically looks like a shrunk-down version of the aforementioned Nexus 6P, from the satin-finished aluminium casing to the inlaid glass strip across the top of the rear face. There are worse things to look like, though; the Nexus 6 was a rather attractive smartphone, if a little unusual-looking.

The casing itself is extremely well-built. The rear shell is gently curved, which makes it exceedingly easy to hold, and it doesn't feel nearly as slippery in the hand as other aluminium-framed devices. The edges are also picked out with a delicate chamfer, which gives it some eye-catching detail.

The edges of the screen are gently rounded, too. Not in the same manner as the Galaxy S7 Edge, but with the actual glass rounded off at the very edges. Huawei insists on calling this feature '2.5D glass', which is nothing short of utter nonsense, but it does catch the light in an appealingly snazzy fashion.

The Huawei Nova is equally impressive in terms of the actual display panel itself. The contrast ratio is superb, and colour is rich and vivid, while the 1,920 x 1,080 resolution is more than sharp enough for day-to-day use on a 5in display.

If we had one complaint, it would be that peak brightness does leave something to be desired, but the addition of a night mode for more comfortable night-time viewing goes a long way to making up for this.

Features and hardware
Like the Nexus 6P, the Huawei Nova's fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear of the device. We're still in two minds about whether or not we like its placement, though. On the one hand, it's very convenient for unlocking your phone as you're pulling it out of your pocket - particularly since you don't need to wake the screen first.

On the other hand, it's a bit of a pain if you have a habit of keeping your phone on your desk, as you'll need to pick it up every time you want to unlock it. You can always use your backup unlock method, of course, but it still feels inconvenient when compared to front-mounted sensors.

The Nova's camera performs as well as you'd expect an average mid-range smartphone camera to - which means it's perfectly adequate, but by no means exemplary. Most shots ended up looking a little noisy and lacking in fine detail, but it'll likely do the job unless you're a smartphone photography enthusiast.

Like many of Huawei's other phones, the Nova is equipped with dual-SIM capabilities, so frequent flyers can have both local and international SIMs at once. This does mean that you'll lose out on the expandable memory, however, as the second SIM occupies the MicroSD card slot.

As with virtually every new smartphone, the Nova has made the jump to the USB Type-C charging standard, ditching the older MicroUSB socket. The 3030mAh cell comfortably lasts through a full day and it's also got fast-charging capabilities, thanks to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 CPU. This is unusual for a Huawei handset, but it's a welcome addition, as it makes topping up your battery a breeze.

In addition to the Snapdragon 625 mentioned above, the Nova also has a 3GB RAM allocation. That's hardly going to blow anyone away, but it's a perfectly adequate configuration that delivers solid, reliable performance. While it's not topping our benchmark charts, it handled all our tests with no complaints, as well as acquitting itself well during real-world multi-tasking.

Emotion UI software
Usually, the area that Huawei phones fall down in is the software. The company insists on fitting all of its devices with its custom 'Emotion UI' overlay, which modifies the appearance and layout of the core Android OS. While many manufacturers including Samsung and LG do this, Huawei's overlay was previously the most egregious and irritating example of the practice.

Thankfully, the company has put some effort into refining it, and the 'EmUI' skin is a lot less awkward and intrusive than it used to be. It looks slicker than previous iterations, with more rounded, polished app icons and a generally cleaner interface. Swiping through menus feels smooth and responsive, and we noticed virtually no lag or slowdown.

On the downside, there's still no app drawer - meaning all your apps are stuck on your home screen, iOS-style - and it's still loaded with enough bloatware to sink a battleship. Much of the third-party stuff can be deleted, but you'll still be left with a few stock apps cluttering up your home screen.

GizOK: Pre-Order The Meizu MX6 For Only $389

Meizu mobile is one of those who has been outputting some seriously good devices at some seriously affordable prices for quite some time. Back In July of this year, the company unveiled the latest smartphone to join their MX range in the form of the Meizu MX6 and this one introduced a number of subtle yet worthwhile improvements, making this a device worth your considering when looking to pick up a new smartphone.

Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Meizu MX6 Helio X20 4GB 32GB Only 300USD

The launch cadence for Meizu smartphones has been rather speedy as of late. Already this year we’ve seen the introduction of the m3, the m3 Note, the Pro 6, and at the tail-end of last year we had the Pro 5 as well. This week sees the launch of the MX6, an update to the MX5, using MediaTek’s 10-core Helio X20 (MT6797) SoC.

Apart from the smartphone, the company has unveiled the Loop Jacket, which is a protective case for the smartphone priced at CNY 79 (approximately Rs. 800). Unfortunately, the Chinese company as of now has not revealed global rollout details for the smartphone. The company also launched the Lifeme Bluetooth speakers for CNY 399 (approximately Rs. 4,000).

Alongside the SoC, the MX6 uses a Full HD (1920x1080) display measuring 5.5 inches, 4GB of LPDDR3 memory with 32GB of storage, a 3060 mAh battery, a fingerprint sensor, a USB Type-C connector and Android 6.0 with Meizu’s Flyme UI. While there is no microSD card slot, the MX6 will offer Dual-SIM capabilities and uses a reported ‘24W’ peak charging mode to fully charge in 75 minutes or a 10 minute charge should give a half day of battery (though Meizu doesn’t specify if that’s a half ‘working day’ or actually 12 hours, probably the former given that the device is rated at 9 working hours on the website).

The rear camera is a 12MP Sony IMX386, with 1.25-micron pixels, phase-detection auto focus (PDAF), an f/2.0 lens and dual tone flash. While the MP count seems to have dropped from the MX5, the use of larger pixels to increase image clarity in low light, combined with PDAF, has its own advantages. The 5.5-inch TDDI display according to the spec sheets is good for 1500:1 contrast ratio, 85% NTSC and a peak brightness of 500 nits – it’s worth noting that Meizu’s landing page states ‘500 cd/m2 Peak’ but the specification sheet says ‘450 cd/m2 typical’. The Cat 6 modem is supported by dual-band 802.11ac and BT 4.1, while the fingerprint sensor has a rated response time of 0.2 seconds. The 7.25mm unibody design features the microphone port on the bottom next to the USB Type-C, and dual microphones (one each end) with additional noise cancelling software filters.

The MX6 falls behind the Meizu Pro 6 when it comes to the camera and processing speed (arguably the two most important features on a phone) but can match Meizu's flagship device everywhere else, and at a cheaper price. The Meizu MX6 will retail for $299 when it's released, $90 less than the cheapest Pro 6.

The new MEIZU MX6 is available in silver, gray, gold and rose gold at USD 300(RMB 1,999) (4GB+32GB).

http://www.gizok.com/
OnePlus has begun teasing its new smartphone ahead of its expected launch by the end of next month and today, we’re hearing some concrete information on the specs from perennial tipster Evan Blass. In a tweet, Evan posted a screenshot from an Android N preview build on the OnePlus 3, which suggests that OnePlus’ new smartphone will either run Android N at launch, or be updated soon after Google releases the update this summer.

Evan posted a screenshot of the OnePlus 3, allegedly running a build of the N Preview on OxygenOS 3.1.0. Android 6.0 Marshmallow for OnePlus devices is based on OxygenOS 3.0.x, so a bump up in the sub-version makes sense.

Vernee Apollo Lite Helio X20 deca-core 4GB RAM for just $200

Vernee is the latest Chinese smartphone brand that had unveiled two new smartphones Vernee Apollo and Vernee Thor. The Vernee Thor is a low-cost smartphone priced at $130 and sports competitive specification. On the other hand, the Vernee Apollo comes with the high-end specs which makes it a good alternative for any other recent flagships and also comes with a price tag of just $400.
Vernee Apollo
Packing MediaTek's MT6797 deca-core Helio X20 chip, the Apollo Lite includes a 5.5-inch full HD display at 1080 x 1920 pixels, so isn't quite as sharp as its beastlier cousin. There's 4 GB of RAM as opposed to 6, and the 5- and 13-megapixel cameras on the front and back respectively look a downgrade on the main Apollo handset. Still, that's a helluva lot of bang for 200 bucks, and could help to put Vernee mobile well and truly on the map.

Coming to the camera department, it has a 16MP rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. It supports dual SIM dual standby by using the hybrid SIM slot, instead of the second SIM you can opt for MicroSD card for further storage expansion. While the Vernee Apollo is priced at $400, the new Apollo Lite costs only $200.

On paper, the Apollo and Vernee Apollo Lite beat pretty much anything else out there in power-to-price ratio, though specs alone don't always make for a great experience. We also cannot comment on the quality of build just by looking at images, though for the kind of money being quoted, we'd be tempted to take a risk anyway.

Meizu Pro 6 and M3 Note leak

http://www.pompmall.com/
The Meizu Pro 6 and the Meizu m3 note has been popping in our rumor section for quite some time. The Meizu Pro 5 was part of the rumors for quite some time, but it got cancelled due to production delays.

The alleged Pro 6 is pictured in black and certainly looks the part of being a Pro-series handset. It has the downward-curved antenna bands up and down, which we've seen in previous leaks, and has the shine of a metal finish. It appears that Meizu decided to place the finger scanner below the rear camera, rather than integrating it inside the Home button like on the Pro 5. However, this could also be a new LED flash assembly,

Meizu M3 Note specs show on AnTuTu

http://www.pompmall.com/
Meizu sure is an interesting company. This China-based smartphone manufacturer has managed to sell 20 million smartphones last year, which is a huge improvement compared to a year before when they shipped out ‘only' 4.4 million units. That being said, we've been seeing tons of Meizu PRO 6 leaks recently, and the company has announced two press events for April, and judging by the info we have, Meizu will introduce the Meizu M3 Note, and a new flagship (Meizu MX6 or PRO 6).

OnePlus 3 specs show on benchmark

http://www.gizok.com/
The OnePlus 3 is set to launch in the second quarter of 2016, but we may already know what to expect from the company's next flagship phone. A leaked AnTuTu benchmark reveals the specs for what's shaping up to be a pretty awesome device.

According to the benchmark listing, the OnePlus 3 comes with the model number OnePlus A3000 and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC; Adreno 530; 4GB of RAM; 16-megapixel rear camera; 8-megapixel front camera, and runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The smartphone is said to sport 32GB built-in storage and come with a screen resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The benchmark listing suggests that OnePlus may skip a QHD display in its OnePlus 3 flagship smartphone. To recall, the OnePlus 2 launched last year and featured a full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) screen, and was marketed as '2016 flagship killer'. The details were shared on Weibo and first picked up by Android Community.

Meizu releasing 7 new smartphones in 2016

http://www.pompmall.com/
Expecting at least 3 new devices from an OEM for a year is probably the norm for most. But what if they wanted to release 7? Realistically and financially, that might be too far fetched but if a leaked document is to be believed, that is exactly what Chinese tech brand Meizu mobile is planning to do this 2016. While some of those on the list are expected already, what with previous teases and rumors, some of them are a surprise.

Meizu M3 Note release date, specifications, price

http://www.pompmall.com/
Meizu Mobile is a company that is big in China: it made huge strides in sales in the last two years in particular, and while its phones are available in a very limited amount in Europe (and are not officially sold in the United States), it makes some great phones sold at extremely affordable prices.

Meizu appears to be gearing up to launch its new device, the Meizu M3 Note. The Chinese smartphone maker is tight-lipped on the device, but it has now emerged that it will be released next week.

Meizu CEO Confirms M3 Note Will be Launched Soon

http://www.pompmall.com/
Meizu's CEO, Huang Zhang, actually said something interesting recently as well. The company's CEO actually mentioned the Meizu M3 Note for the first time, and has hinted that the device might launch soon as well. The Meizu M3 Note has surfaced a couple of times thus far as well, and the company's CEO also hinted that the device might be fueled by MediaTek's Helio P10 SoC, which seems to be quite popular at the moment.

Meizu Pro 6 Benchmark Shows Deca-core CPU

http://www.gizok.com/
Although it was largely absent from MWC 2016, Meizu might be preparing something just as special and head-turning. The Meizu Pro 6, its next flagship, has yet to take flesh, but, at least according to leaked images and the company's own press event, it will put up quite a show. In addition to curved screen edges on all four sides, the high end Chinese smartphone will be sporting MediaTek's most powerful deca-core processor to date, a fact confirmed by a sighting on the GFXBench website.

Meizu Pro 6 leaked images show off flagship's design
