This morning, a render of the much anticipated OnePlus 3 flagship phone has been making the rounds on the internet. We can confirm that this "leak" is legit as we also got it directly from OnePlus' China PR rep, who didn't say anything other than that this is a "OnePlus 3 render."
The metal unibody construction of the device is clearly portrayed in these renders, marking the Chinese company's first such design. Gone is the signature "sandstone" back cover, and the glass solution from the OnePlus X is nowhere to be found either. Instead, you'll be touching pure, naked metal each time you pick the OnePlus 3 up.
The OnePlus 3’s slim design and metallic finish will instantly remind you of the iPhone 6s. Then the rear antenna design and camera placement are similar to what HTC has done with its flagship line of devices, including the LeEco Le 2 Pro.
What’s more, the screen seems to have very slim bezels, with rounded metal edges in a form factor which reminds me a lot of the OnePlus 2. The back appears to be slightly curved, which should help the device fit very comfortably in hand. The bottom edge has a Type-C port, but we’re uncertain whether it’s ‘true Type-C’ specification, or if it’s just the right sized port.
The OnePlus 3 is supposedly going to be unveiled by the end of May and start selling early next month, according to recent reports, but OnePlus hasn’t yet announced anything at this point.
