Back in February OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced that the OnePlus 3 would officially debut sometime at the end of the second quarter of 2016, pegging its release for sometimes around June. Now that we are pretty close to that time frame, it’s no surprise to see the amount of leaks related to this device increasing.
For the device itself, the OnePlus 3 just about builds up on the front of the OnePlus 2. The home button makes its presence known as an oval button on the front chin, and is likely to house the fingerprint sensor as well.
Rumors claim we’ll be seeing two versions of the OnePlus 3, one with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage and the other with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. Pricing is expected to be aggressive as seen with its predecessor. There aren’t too many solid rumors about the rest of the specs, though a Snapdragon 820 is pretty likely.
Like Quick Charge and VOOC, it appears that OnePlus mobile has been developing its own Dash Charge technology, but we will have to wait and see what it does when the phone arrives. Looking at the specifications of the upcoming flagship phone, it will not take long for the device’s battery to be depleted. After all, having 6GB of RAM for the highest configured model does not exactly make things easy.
The OnePlus 3 indicates yet another shift in design language for OnePlus. From Plastic-Sandstone (OnePlus One) to Metal-Sandstone (OnePlus 2) to Metal-Glass (OnePlus X), the OnePlus 3 is looking to take yet another leap. But will OnePlus find success in this design?
