OnePlus 3 Snapdragon 820 5.5 inch Android N 16MP camera

OnePlus has begun teasing its new smartphone ahead of its expected launch by the end of next month and today, we’re hearing some concrete information on the specs from perennial tipster Evan Blass. In a tweet, Evan posted a screenshot from an Android N preview build on the OnePlus 3, which suggests that OnePlus’ new smartphone will either run Android N at launch, or be updated soon after Google releases the update this summer.

Evan posted a screenshot of the OnePlus 3, allegedly running a build of the N Preview on OxygenOS 3.1.0. Android 6.0 Marshmallow for OnePlus devices is based on OxygenOS 3.0.x, so a bump up in the sub-version makes sense.
But since the N Preview is a “preview” for good reasons, it is unlikely that OnePlus would release the device with a developer-only Android version. Our best guess is that the device if it launches before consumer release of Android N, will ship with Android 6.0.

What are the specs of the OnePlus 3? According to Blass, the handset will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display, which a previous leak suggests could be of the AMOLED variety. That previous leak also gave us our first look at a render of the new device, which should see OnePlus switch from the glass and plastic materials of the OnePlus X and OnePlus 2 respectively, to a more premium metal build.

The OnePlus 3 will will have 64GB built-in storage and a 16MP main camera. All of this will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor, which should ensure that it’s incredibly fast, and can potentially support Quick-Charge 3.0, providing the manufacturer enables it.

OnePlus will announce the new phone via a VR livestream sometime in the very near future and even launched a bespoke VR headset to coincide with the launch.
