Carly, get on your bike and start spreading the news, T-Mobile's new UNcarrier plans are now in effect. As we told you last week, the nation's fourth largest carrier is flipping the switch to "on" two days before a big media event on Tuesday. The new Value Plan is available from corporate owned stores while the new Classic Plan will be found at national retailers like Target and Best Buy. The pricing for both is essentially the same with only difference being how you purchase a new mobile phone. While T-Mobile has not released information on how new phone purchases will be handled, we don't expect too much of a change in the current system where Classic Plan members can buy a subsidized phone with a two-year contract and a Value Plan member makes a down payment and pays off the mobile phone using an Equipment Installment Plan.
Both Classic and Value Plans offer Unlimited talk and text plus 500MB of data monthly for $50 monthly. You can choose from a selection of additional data options that start at 2GB for an additional $10 per month ($60 total) running up to 12GB of data for an additional $60 ($110 total). Those plans include tethering and mobile HotSpot use. If that is not important to you, a total of $70 a month will give you totally unlimited talk, text and data, but will not let you use the HotSpot feature
The new Value Plan is now up on T-Mobile's website. On Tuesday, we expect the carrier to announce the launch of LTE 4G in 7 markets, the names of which leaked out on Saturday. We should also hear more about the new UNcarrier plans, the launch of the BlackBerry Z10 and possibly (don't get too carried away as this is a long shot) a launch of the T-Mobile variant of the Apple iPhone. Tuesday is around the corner so keep your eyes right here!
